Two vehicles used by a film unit were damaged when a crude explosive went off early morning on Monday, in the compound of a resort where the film crew were staying.
According to the police, the "mild explosive" went off by about 3 am. Reports say a detonator was used to ignite the explosive. No one was injured in the explosion.
The police have registered a case and at least one person has been taken into custody for questioning.
The incident was suspected to be the fallout of rivalry between two organisations of Malayalam film workers, FEFKA and MACTA Federaration.
FEFKA, which enjoys the firm backing of leading actors and producers, have been at logger heads with MACTA Federation, comprising mostly lower-rung film crew like technicians and drivers.
MACTA Federation, now affiliated to Communist Party of India (CPI)'s trade union wing Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), had been on warpath with producers demanding better wages and working conditions.
The Indian Railways is contemplating to install hidden cameras to record all activities inside compartments for security reasons.
Railways, which has been mulling the proposal to install cameras for quite a long time, has put the proposal on a fast track considering the changing security scenario in the country.
A top railway official said the proposal has gained momentum after it was ascertained that the railways need to come out with a solution to track people and other activities in case of an emergency situation, mainly terrorist attacks.
