A 65-year-old distiller, Opanin Ben Apraku of Dokrochiwa in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District, had threatened to take legal action against the police at Coaltar if they fail to investigate an assault case on his 17-year-old nephew, Eric Dankwa, since October last year.
Speaking to the Ghana News Opanin Apraku said on October 01 last year one Atta Kuma, a land guard, visited the community and requested the victim to give him a bottle of akpeteshie to perform some rituals.
He said when Dankwa could not provide the drink, Atta Kuma became offended and threatened to kill him.
He said this brought about a misunderstanding between the two and Atta
Kuma who was then holding a cutlass hit the chest of Dankwa several times.
Opanin Apraku said Dankwa raised the alarm and one Nelson Osei, rushed to the scene and collected the cutlass from Atta Kuma.
Dankwa was sent to the Nsawam Government Hospital where he was admitted for two weeks.
He said the case was reported to the police at Coaltar and Atta Kuma was arrested and later released.
Opanin Apraku said anytime he went to the police to enquire about the case he would be driven away and that Dankwa is now a cripple due to the assault.
