The College of Art and Social Sciences (CASS)
of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has rewarded 23 individuals and corporate bodies for hard work and outstanding contribution to the development of the College.
They received specially designed plaque and citations at a ceremony in Kumasi.
Prof Daniel Buor, Provost of the College, the Rev Dr Edem Kwaku Tettey, Mr Charles Frimpong and Mrs Ulzen Appiah, all of the College, and Mr Coby Asmah, Chief Executive Officer, Type Company Limited were among the
recipients.
The corporate bodies included Ghana Commercial Bank, HFC Bank Limited, VALCO Trust Limited and the Ghana Association of Bankers.
Prof W. O. Ellis, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, underlined the resolve of the institution to train the required manpower to
meet the nation's industrial demand.
He congratulated the award winners for their support towards the growth of the College.
Mr Asmah called for stepping up of the university's distance education programme to enable more people to benefit.
He also suggested that it established campuses in other parts of the country to bring quality education closer to all.
Prof Daniel Ohene-Adu, Dean, Faculty of Fine Art and Chairman of the Awards Committee, said he was confident this would motivate others to do their bit to help the university.
