The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr Tawiah Quaye, on Thursday, stressed the need for the Police Administration to develop dynamic strategies to curb the increasing spate of criminal activities.
He said this could be achieved through regular training in contemporary policing methods.
The IGP said this in an address read for him by the Central Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner Of Police (DCOP) Akanyiri Kampari, at
the opening of a two-week capacity building training for 170 Inspectors and Chief Inspectors, who are mostly station Officers, selected throughout the country.
The officers would be trained in crime prevention and detection, prosecution, operational duties, traffic management, media relations, record
keeping and information management.
He said the training would help update the knowledge of the participants and also keep them abreast with current development.
He said "we are aware of the focal role played by station officers and there is the need to adequately prepare them to meet the daunting challenges associated with their scheduled tasks".
The IGP urged the participants to take the course seriously to enable them to acquire the knowledge and competencies needed to perform their
duties as Station Officers.
