Cases reported to the Tema Sub-Regional Office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) rose from 92 in 2008 to 96 last year.
Ms Mercy Mensah-Addo, Tema Sub-Regional Director of the Commission, told the Ghana News Agency in Tema that 32 of the 92 cases in 2008 were disposed of and 23 of the 96 reported cases were dealt with last year.
Ms Mensah-Addo said last year the Commission was able to dispose of 26 of the 60 outstanding matters for 2008.
She said even though Human Rights Abuses topped the list in both years under review, the figures reduced from 34 in 2008 to 29 last year.
Ms Mensah-Addo said her outfit received 15 cases on maintenance of children and spouses in 2008, the number increased to 21 last year.
Administrative justice issues also rose from 14 in 2008 to 17 in 2009.
In both 2008 and 2009, the Commission received the same number of 29 labour complaints.
Ms Mensah-Addo advised residents in the Metropolis to insist on their fundamental human rights at all times.
She appealed to residents not to take the law into their own hands since that could lead to prosecution.
