Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso East in Accra, has advised Muslim youth to shun acts of indiscipline and channel their energies into productive ventures.
He said they should do away with violence, vandalism and other social vices that create image problems for Islam.
Dr Mustapha, a Deputy Minister-designate for Water Resources, Works and Housing, made the call through the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi.
He said the youth needed to appreciate that they have critical role to play in the nation's development.
Dr Mustapha said it was important they become patriotic, hard working and show respect for the elderly and people in authority.
Additionally, he said, they should support the government in the implementation of its' well-structured programmes to improve the living
conditions of the Ghanaians.
He encouraged them to take secular education seriously and said this would help to significantly reduce ignorance, poverty and diseases, which were prominent in the Zongo communities.
Dr Mustapha also appealed to the well-to-do Muslims not to be selfish but generous to the under-privileged youth by assisting them to acquire skills to make them economically self-supporting.
