A missing male computer engineer working at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research(IGCAR) at
Kalpakkam near the southern metropolis was found dead near a railway track, police said Friday.
The body of 37-year old S Ananthanarayanan was found near the railway track between Vandalur and Guduvancherry section on February 15 itself--the day he was reported missing--but was identified only Thursday night by his father-in-law,Kalpakkam police told PTI.
The scientist was run over by a suburban train at about 11 on that day and his body was lying in Thambaram Government hospital mortuary since then, police said. Details are awaited on how the scientist came under a train.
Ananthanarayanan, employed with IGCAR since 1997, last
attended duty on February 12, IGCAR sources said.
He was working on developing hospital Data Management System at IGCAR. According to IGCAR sources, he was not involved in any sensitive work and therefore not privy to classified information.
It is the second instance of an Atomic Energy department employee meeting a violent end this month.
Mahadevan Padmanabhan Iyer (42), a scientist of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), was found murdered at his residence in south Mumbai early this week.
A mechanical engineer, Iyer was working in BARC's Reactor Group.
Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Iyer was found lying in his bed with a rope tied around his neck, which bore injuries. A murder case has been registered.
