Mr. Alex Kyeremeh, the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive, has urged parents to take advantage of the provision of educational infrastructure by the government and enrol their children, especially girls, in school.
He said quality education would equip the children with knowledge, skills and attitudes that would enable them to contribute to national development.
Mr. Kyeremeh said this when he cut the sod for the construction of a six-unit classroom block, office and store, as well as toilet and urinal for Ameyaw Local Authority Primary and Junior High School in Techiman.
The project is estimated at GHC 109,604.15 and is funded by the District Development Fund (DDF).
Mr. Kyeremeh appealed to Parent/Teacher Associations and School Management Committees to monitor the activities of encroachers on school lands.
Mr. Kyeremeh commended the PTA and the SMC for supporting the students to excel in a science and quiz competition held in Sunyani last year.
Mr. Kofi Num, PTA chairman, said people were encroaching on the school's lands and appealed to the assembly to help to stop it.
