The normal life in the Nepali capital Kathmandu
Valley was crippled on Friday due to the nationwide strike called by the Aadiwasi Janajati Brihat Morcha Nepal, a joint front of several indigenous organizations.
Transportation came to a grinding halt and entire markets areas, academic institutions were shut down nationwide due to the strike.
The front, which claims to have support of more than 106 indigenous organizations,called nationwide strike Friday to press the Constituent Assembly to ensure the rights of indigenous people as recognized by the international law.
They had also taken out a torch rally on Thursday evening in the capital.
