Reggae musician and comedian David Oscar is set to release a live recording of his latest single, Africa As One, on Saturday, August 8, as he continues his efforts to promote roots reggae and its message of unity, justice and cultural identity.

The live version, recorded during his performance at his self-produced “Reggae Spot Unplugged” series in Accra, Ghana in December of 2025, captures David Oscar performing the song alongside selections from the reggae classics that have influenced his musical journey.

Released on June 27, Africa As One is the latest addition to David Oscar’s growing reggae catalogue and reflects his interest in using music to highlight issues of African identity, unity and social consciousness.

The upcoming live recording will also feature classic reggae selections inspired by legends such as Bob Marley, Winston Rodney, known in Reggae circles as “Burning Spear” as well as Joseph Hill, lead singer of the iconic reggae group Culture.

For David Oscar, taking “Africa As One” to the live stage offers an opportunity to connect with audiences beyond the studio recording while keeping the spirit of roots reggae alive.

“Africa As One” is more than just a song; it’s a reminder that reggae has always been a voice for unity, justice and hope. 

“Through the song, the live sessions and the Reggae Spot Music Festival, I want to keep authentic roots reggae alive while inspiring young Africans to embrace our shared identity and cultural heritage,” he told Graphic Showbiz.

The live release is also tied to his annual Reggae Spot Music Festival, which he established in Koforidua to celebrate reggae music and its cultural significance.

Through the festival, David Oscar has created a platform for reggae enthusiasts to experience live performances, revisit classics from the genre’s pioneers and appreciate Ghana’s place in the reggae tradition.
