FAST-RISING Ghanaian rapper LALID is proving that his breakthrough hit, The Matter, is no fluke.
The young musician, born, Samuel Aboagye, says he is “here to stay” as he continues to make impressive strides in the music scene.
Since its release in February this year, The Matter has taken over both local and online spaces, climbing charts, making it onto Apple Music’s Top 100, and even earning him a feature with Medikal on the remix.
The song also landed him a slot on Glitch Africa’s live session, a major boost for any emerging artiste.
Beyond streaming success, The Matter sparked TikTok trends and dance challenges, expanding LALID’s fanbase across borders.
In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, the rapper said “I’m really humbled by how much love and support The Matter has received.
“Seeing people from different places connect to the song and create their own content around it means the world to me. It reminds me why I started making music in the first place.”
The University of Ghana graduate, from Ashaiman, is determined to build on his momentum. He recently dropped a follow-up single, Top Speed, on September 27, which is already gaining traction among music lovers.
“But this is just the beginning. With Top Speed, I want to take things even further. The song is about moving forward, not slowing down, and staying focus on your dreams no matter the obstacles. I want my fans to feel that energy and motivation and still have something to dance to”, he added.
Fresh from delivering an electrifying performance at Sarkodie’s Rapperholic concert at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi recently, LALID believes he’s on the right path.
“The industry should watch out. I’m not slowing down anytime soon. I’m here to stay and to make great music’, he stated.
