The prestigious Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF) is marking a major milestone – its 10th anniversary.
To commemorate this occasion, the festival is inviting filmmakers from Ghana, Africa and around the world to submit their entries for the upcoming edition via its website or filmfreeway, the global film submissions platform that has made submissions easy for film filmmakers looking to submit to film festivals around the world.
The festival over the years has birth a number of other film festivals in Ghana and impacted many films and filmmakers, giving them a platform to reach audiences far and near, as well as gain distribution.
The festival also affords the opportunity for filmmakers to network with industry value chain, gain knowledge and opportunities. As well, giving Ghanaians and all those who attend the festival the opportunity to see films they may not usually see at the cinemas.
All over the world, film festivals form the backbone of any growing film market and film festivals thriving in Ghana is a great indicator of the sector rebounding back.
As a global festival that celebrates and gives opportunities to Ghanaian filmmakers and African filmmakers annually, the festival hosts over 40 countries in Ghana during the festival that typically happens in September.
Notable films that have made it into the festival include Yardie, by Idris Elba, academy awarded Moonlight, Blackklansman among others.
Many African films find a home at the festival as well, that is dedicated to elevating and amplifying African filmmakers. Last year, the acclaimed Ghanaian film ‘Pawn’ by Lyxn entertainment and directed by Pascal Aka, made its World premiere at the festival.
Already, the organisers are excited to see films that will make it into the 10th edition.
The organisers wrote on the official website and social media pages.
