After unearthing young talents such as Kuami Eugene, Eazzy, Mzvee, KiDi among a host of others into stardom, record label, Lynx Entertainment is ready to expand their influence.
The record label, headed by Richie Mensah has partnered with distribution and services company, Vydia, to provide global digital music distribution for African artistes
A New Jersey-based tech company, Vydia is an end-to-end platform that monetises content and handles its own supply chain, distribution, data pipelines, complex rights management, among others.
The partnership will enable Lynx Entertainment provide first-hand distribution of music to global digital service without third parties.
According to the CEO of Lynx Group, Richie Mensah, the move is to ensure that African artistes and labels are adequately represented in the fast-growing digital distribution scene.
He explained that as the continent continue to embrace the limitless possibilities of digital distribution, there was the need to safeguard the interest of artistes and labels in Africa, thus, maximising gains for stakeholders.
Richie Mensah stated that with the initiative, African musicians will for the first time not need third-party distributors or agents as they could get their music listed on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal and others in the comfort of their homes.
“Lynx Entertainment’s distribution platform delivers music to about 200 stores globally while ensuring content protection, rights management, advanced payments, and data tracking.
“The premium technology works to empower creators to distribute, protect, monetise and store their content through one centralised and easy to use platform that has a transparent royalty payout process begins global music distribution for African artistes,” he said.
There has been no influential record label since Megastar, the biggest label in the 90s which served as the home for the likes of Amakye Dede, Tagoe Sisters, Rev. Yawson, Nana Yaw Obeng, Kontihene, Pat Thomas, Akwasi Ampofo Adjei (AAA), the Megastar Band and many others.
Since 2006, the Lynx stable has officially signed more than 10 artistes with notable names such as Asem, Eazzy, MzVee, KiDi, Kuami Eugene easily coming up.
The new initiative, is therefore, a giant leap into the digital distribution space after 18 years of dominating and empowering the music industry in Ghana.
