Tom Holland and Zendaya quickly became a fan favorite couple when they confirmed their romance in 2021. They went on to face several engagement rumors before she eventually confirmed he popped the question in January 2025.
Zendaya subtly confirmed that she and Tom were engaged when she debuted a stunning diamond ring on her left hand ring finger while attending the Golden Globes in January 2025.
While neither Zendaya nor Tom have publicly confirmed their engagement, TMZ reported on January 6, 2025, that the pair got engaged sometime between Christmas 2024 and New Year’s.
Following the engagement news, an insider exclusively told Life & Style that Zendaya was “super excited about planning her dream wedding.”
Zendaya previously sparked engagement rumors in September 2023 when she sported what appeared to be a large pearl and diamond bauble on her left ring finger while taking a selfie in a gray T-shirt and baseball hat shown in an Instagram Story. Fans immediately pounced on the ring being a sign that she and Tom were secretly engaged, but Zendaya shot down the speculation in a hilarious way.
The Challengers actress shared two more Instagram Stories videos to clarify the situation before it got out of hand. "I can't post anything, you guys," she laughed while rolling her eyes saying, "I posted it for my hat … Like, not for the ring on my right finger, you guys."
Zendaya then added that if she and Tom did get engaged, she would make a much more impressive announcement about it, telling followers, "Seriously, you think that's how I would drop the deuce? Like, what?!"
The Emmy winner clarified her original post by adding the bottom half of the picture, featuring a cute outfit including a white miniskirt and tan calf boots in addition to her miniskirt and cap. "Let me just put the full body back so y'all can relax lmao," Zendaya wrote over the Instagram Story photo.
The pair became incredibly close while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. Their flirtatious appearances during press appearances and red carpets for that film and the 2019 sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home had fans wondering if they were more than good friends due to their incredible chemistry.
It wasn't until July 2021 that Tomdaya shippers got the confirmation they'd been hoping for. Zendaya and Tom were photographed making out in a car after visiting her mom's home in Los Angeles. In the months that followed, they would share Instagram posts about each other's projects, often with smiling heart-eye emojis. In November 2021, Tom told Total Film he was “very happy and in love,” but that he wanted to keep his romantic life private.
Fans swooned the following month when Zendaya shared a behind the scenes photo of Tom while they were filming Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was released in December 2021. "My Spider-Man, I’m so proud of you," she captioned the December 17 snapshot.
Zendaya confirmed that their romance was still going strong following her win at the September 2022 Emmy Awards. “Well, I didn’t have to text my mom because my mom was already there, she’s here tonight, which is very special. And I texted my boyfriend,” Zendaya told E! News after snagging the award for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series for HBO’s Euphoria.
Tom finally opened up about Zendaya in a big way during a July 3, 2023, appearance on the “Smartless” podcast. “I’m lucky that I have someone like Zendaya in my life. It’s interesting being in a romantic relationship with someone that is in the same boat as you," The Crowded Room star gushed, adding, “You can share your experiences and all that sort of stuff — and that’s worth its weight in gold.”
