A call has been made for the establishment and operation of a hotel, as an integral part of the Hospitality and Tourism Management School of the Ho Polytechnic, to enhance the training of students in the hospitality industry.
The prototype hotel-school amalgam, waiting for funding could make the Ho Polytechnic a leading trainer in the hospitality business in the country.
Ms. Pauline Adzoyi, Dean of School of Applied Sciences and Technology of the Polytechnic, made the observation when a delegation of the Ho Polytechnic Branch of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG), called on Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister on Tuesday in Ho.
Ms. Adzoyi, who was the Immediate Past Head of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Department of the Polytechnic, complained about the use of the school's researched and developed cuisine recipes without permission.
She appealed for support for catering students who for lack of financial support found it difficult to undertake their practical work.
Mr Simon Avorga, PROTAG Ho Polytechnic Chapter Chairman, said members wanted their expertise and experience tapped for national development.
Mr. Amenowode urged the teachers to provide the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) with proposals for study and possible support.
