The bilateral trade between Vietnam and Belarus reached 5.8 million U.S. dollars in the first two months this year, a decrease of 50 percent over the same period last year, said the information center of Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade on Tuesday.
In this period, Belarus exported 2.9 million U.S. dollars worth of goods to Vietnam, down 71 percent compared to the same period last year, said the center.
The Eastern European country's export items to Vietnam are mainly lorries of 1.2 million U.S. dollars, pulling machines of 975,000 U.S. dollars, automobile tires of 386,000 U.S. dollars and liquid pumping machines of 298,000 U.S. dollars.
Vietnam's export turnover to Belarus in this period was about 2.9 million U.S. dollars, down 19 percent over the same period last year, said the center.
Vietnam's main export items to Belarus include seafood of one million U.S. dollars, printers of 386,000 U.S. dollars, and canned vegetables of 320,000 U.S. dollars.
Other goods imported from Vietnam are peanut and cashew, rice, footwear and garment.
According to the official statistics of Vietnam, the two way trade between the two countries in 2008 saw an increase of 96 percent over the previous year to 124.5 million U.S. dollars.
