Directors, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Oti Region have signed performance contracts to ensure accountability and effective service delivery.
The signing ceremony held at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) conference room aimed to promote transparency and good governance.
Reverend Harry Nii Kwatei-Owoo, Chief Director of the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC), led a comprehensive session for MDCEs, Directors, Human Resource Managers and Heads of Departments, focusing on essential governance principles.
He spoke about Service Delivery by ensuring effective and efficient services to the community, participatory active stakeholders' engagement, promoting transparency and answerability, ensuring openness in decision making and optimizing resources utilization.
Reverend Kwatei-Owoo emphasised the significance of these principles in achieving good governance and development in the Oti Region.
He, however, highlighted the importance of accountability, transparency, and efficiency in ensuring that the assemblies remain responsive to community needs.
Deputy Superintendent of prison (DSP) Mr, Daniel Machator (Rtd), the Oti regional Minister has emphasized the importance of accountability, transparency, excellence in local governance and service delivery during the signing ceremony of the 2025 performance contracts for Municipal and District Assemblies.
Addressing the gathering, the minister recognised the dedication of Coordinating Directors, Human Resource Managers and Heads of Departments, acknowledging their critical role in ensuring assemblies remain responsive to community needs.
He stressed that performance contracts represent a mutual agreement between assembly leadership and infrastructure d government to deliver measurable results in key areas such as education, health, and economic development.
Mr Machator addressed pressing challenges include under-performance, lack of adherence to key deliverables and inefficiencies. He announced that the office of the Oti Regional Coordinating Council will enforce sanctions to foster accountability.
The Minister urged MDCE, Coordinating Directors and Human Resource Managers to adopt hands-on approaches, implement robust performance management systems and cultivate continuous learning cultures.
The signing ceremony marks the beginning of a journey toward greater achievements, ensuring Oti Region's assemblies remain at the forefront of local governance and contribute meaningfully to socio-economic development.
