The EXIM Bank (EDAIF) has supported the Tungteiya Women’s Association, a shea butter processing group, with a cargo truck valued at about GHS102,000. The truck is to aid them in conveying shea nuts from the bush to their warehouse at Savelugu in the Northern Region for processing.
Presenting the truck to the Association at Savelugu over the weekend, Mr Sulemana Ibrahim, the Director of Finance and Administration at EXIM Bank, said the donation was necessary based on the contribution the women had been making towards poverty alleviation.
He said besides the donation of the truck, the Bank had also extended financial support to the Association to improve their work and expressed the hope that the assistance would contribute to improving the living standards of the women and their families.
Madam Anna-Maria Fati Paul, the Executive Chairperson of Tungteiya Women’s Association, said the assistance would go a long way to address the critical needs of the Association.
She said the Association was operating in seven districts with a membership of 650.
The Bank, he said, had also provided a working grant of GH?200,000 for the purchase of sheanuts, 11 shea nuts roasters, and also to provide 22 dryers to 22 shea nuts communities in the Northern Region.
She gave the assurance that the truck and the working grant would be used for the intended purpose to boost the business of the rural women towards reducing the poverty situation in those areas.
