Korean Air Lines Co., South Korea's top carrier, said Friday that it will extend the suspension of its flights to Cairo, Egypt, until the end of this month due to growing unrest there.
Korean Air has halted its flights between Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and the Egyptian capital on its Incheon-Tashkent-Cairo route since Saturday.
"We will decide on whether to resume providing flight services on the suspended route, depending on the situation in Egypt," the airline said in a statement.
Korean Air, however, said flights linking Incheon, South Korea's main gateway, and Tashkent will remain in service.
The number of weekly flight services on the Incheon and Tashkent route will be reduced to two from the current three, Korean Air said.
Pro-democracy protests that started late last month in Egypt have been simmering as President Hosni Mubarak has refused to step down.
