Japanese electronics giant Toshiba said Thursday its net profit jumped 59.7 percent to 46 billion yen (434 million dollars) in the year to March on strong sales of personal computers and mobile phones.
"We posted rising net profit thanks to strong sales of personal computers in the United States and Europe," a spokeswoman for Toshiba Corp. said, adding domestic sales of mobile phones also supported earnings during the year.
Revenue rose 4.6 percent to 5.8 trillion yen while pre-tax profit fell 23.8 percent to 110.6 billion yen.
In the current year to March 2006, Toshiba expects a net profit of 55 billion yen and a pre-tax profit of 130 billion yen on revenue of six trillion yen, all up from the past year.
