The Kwahu South District Assembly exceeded its
Internally Generated Fund (IGF) by 132.09 per cent in 2009.
The Assembly's projected to generate GH¢192,164.48 last year but was able to mobilize GH¢253,831.69 as at the end of December last year.
The improvement in the revenue generation was as a result of measures taken, which included the formation of revenue tax force, erection of
revenue collection barriers, repairs of broken down vehicles, intensifying checks on the operations of telecommunication companies and certification of food vendors among others.
The District Chief Executive, Mr Joseph Omari, announced this at the first ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the Assembly at Mpraeso.
He said the Assembly's aims at spreading development projects throughout the district and commended its development partners and donor
agencies such as the Danish International Development Agencies (DANIDA), the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) and the Japanese Co-operation Agency (JICA) for financing a number of development projects in deprived communities.
Mr Omari said a number of infrastructural development projects such as construction and rehabilitation of roads, drilling of bore holes,
construction of basic school buildings, markets, place of convenience, health centres, guest houses and staff bungalows were being undertaken in
the various communities to improve the living standards of the people.
He said the Okwahuman Health Insurance Scheme registered 88,072 members last year as against 85,000 members the previous year while over
5,000 pregnant women had also been registered and were being offered free maternal care and delivery,
The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr Frank Ofosu Kissi, advised the assembly members to be vigilant and assist revenue collectors in their
electoral areas to enhance revenue mobilization.
