Rhema Christian Centre (RCC) church at La, has organised a special recipe and cooking contest to fete and honour workers and Church members in commemoration of this year's May Day.
The event brought together four family groups in the Church; Love, Joy, Hope and Peace, which cooked and served the workers with mouth-watering breakfast and lunch buffet to reward the workers for their hard work and service to mother Ghana and mankind.
This year's May Day was observed in Ghana under the theme: "Consolidating Workers' Solidarity, and the Legacy of Osagyefo Dr Kwame
Nkrumah."
Welcoming the workers mainly drawn from the Church, Mr Lawrence Quartey, the Youth President of the Restoration Generation, the youth wing
of RCC, said workers deserved to be motivated and rewarded well, if productivity ought to be sustained and improve for the nation to grow and
develop.
He said when employees were recognised and given their due, better and healthy working relationships with employers and management of institutions and or organisations were guaranteed and promoted.
Other objectives for the event, the Youth President announced, were to promote teamwork, organization and cooperation among the families and to sharpen the skills and ethics of cooking of the Christian.
The workers together with other church members and children, ate, drank and in merriness, the adults shared their working lives' experiences both in the circular world and in the house of God.
Even though the members of the families clad in the colours, red, blue, yellow and green to distinguish them, they served their meals among
themselves in love and oneness to promote fellowship.
Mr Dieu Donne de Bankole, the former Youth President of the Church and an ex-officio member of the youth executives, thanked the various family groups and their leaders for working so hard to prepare the scrumptious meals to feed among others the workers.
Mr Emmanuel Odoi, also an executive member, said the food and drinks were prepared from contributions and donations from Church members in the various families.
Funds were raised to support the development of the Restoration Generation in their future programmes and activities.
The Joy Family led by Ms Nada Badoo, emerged the winners of the contest followed by the Love, Peace and Hope Families which placed second, third and fourth positions respectively.
