Netflix has partnered with TED Talks for what’s seemingly its answer to “Words With Friends,” “Connections” and “Wordle.”
Titled “TED Tumblewords,” the daily word-puzzle mobile game will launch via Netflix and TED.com on Nov. 19. The game “features quick rounds you can play against friends, strangers or the TED Bot.”
In “TED Tumblewords,” which was announced out of TEDNext 2024 in Atlanta Tuesday, “TEDplayers will slide rows of scrambled letters on a grid to create words, aiming for the longest possibilities while earning points and building word chains.”
Per Netflix, “TED Tumblewords” game features will include:
Engaging Word Puzzles: Players can stay sharp with three unique word puzzles each day, meticulously crafted to sharpen critical thinking and enhance vocabulary.
Compete and Connect: Players can challenge friends online in turn-based matches, or test their skills against the Ted Bot, or get matched with a random opponent. They will also be able to climb leaderboards and share victories on social media with a global community of players.
Collectible Knowledge Cards: As they progress, players will be able to collect fascinating facts that enrich understanding of various TED Topics, including Design, Psychology, and Science.
The game, Netflix’s latest of more than 100 mobile titles launched since it started up its gaming division in 2021, will be refreshed daily with a new challenge or topic. “Inspiring quotes” from TED Talks populate the game’s loading screens.
“TED Tumblewords” is available for pre-registration now on Android and iOS. The game is free with a Netflix subscription, with no in-game ads or in-app purchases.
