Datacentrix introduces IBM Competency Centre, delivers virtual platform for networking, tech evaluation and content
High performing and secure ICT solutions provider, Datacentrix, has officially launched a virtual IBM Competency Centre, where local businesses are able to access downloadable resources and connect directly with experts from both Datacentrix and IBM.
Datacentrix is an IBM Platinum Business Partner and is recognised as an expert partner in Storage, Server and Security solutions, as well as for a range of additional IBM offerings, such as data and artificial intelligence (AI), hybrid cloud integration, and asset management amongst others.
“As we find ourselves within a pandemic, people and businesses are looking to technology for the survival not only of our economy, but humanity itself,” said Datacentrix CEO, Ahmed Mahomed, in his opening address at the official launch of the virtual centre.
“In today’s fast-paced world, the fact is that companies need to stay relevant to survive. You could even go as far as saying that the ‘I’ in CIO no longer just pertains to ‘information’,” he explained. “It also refers to ‘innovation’, ‘ideation’, ‘investment’ and ‘social interactions’, all points that have become increasingly important for businesses to prioritise.
“With this in mind, Datacentrix is excited to launch the IBM Competency Centre, providing a safe digital space for customers to network and engage virtually with both companies, while putting technology to the test and also have the opportunity to generally be more innovative.”
The agenda for the centre’s launch day was informative and comprehensive, with topics jointly discussed by IBM and Datacentrix including: how to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to drive workload transformation within the IT organisation and the business; driving relevance and business continuity by building collaboration within and beyond traditional dimensions; building steadfast, resilient IT infrastructure in a time of global disruption; and constructing united security defences that protect resources and assets across organisations, which also featured a simulated hack. These presentations can be accessed on the IBM Competency Centre here.
One of the virtual centre’s biggest draw-cards is its three Competency Rooms, dedicated to Storage Solutions, Power Systems Solutions and Security Solutions. Here, visitors can connect directly with solution experts within each discipline from both Datacentrix and IBM. Each Competency Room features aligned content and videos, as well as the option to schedule a workshop, engage in a group chat with the topic specialists, send a direct e-mail, or even schedule an appointment with an individual expert.
In his closing remarks at the online event, Datacentrix’ Cybersecurity Business Unit Manager, Wayne Olsen, advised that Datacentrix and IBM are not only listening to the industry, but actively engaging with various stakeholders within the client and partner community to ensure that the two organisations are able to help South African businesses tackle the ever-changing demands that they face.
“And it is in this spirit that we will continue to push for innovation from our vendors to ensure that our clients have access to the most up-to-date technologies. The corona virus has forever changed the way we work,” he added. “While the pandemic will not last forever, the way in which we – as a nation, as individuals and organisations – treat this pandemic, will forever be etched into the archives of history.”
