Ericsson announced it's suing French smartphone maker Wiko for patent infringement. The suits were filed in the regional courts of Duesseldorf and Mannheim in Germany, for infringement of patents essential to 2G, 3G and 4G cellular technology, as well as implementation patents.
Ericsson said the infringement by Wiko dates back six years, with the company holding no licence and paying no compensation. Ericsson has tried to agree a Frand licence with Wiko since May 2013, but the company said its attempts have failed. "As a last resort", Ericsson said it was turning to the courts to enforce its rights.
