Huawei, in collaboration with MTN Ghana, on Wednesday unveiled its latest flagship phone, the ‘Mate 9’ in Accra. The new smartphone has a flat 5.9 inch full HD display and runs on the Kirin 960 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which is expandable up to 256 GB by micro SD.
Mr Long Feing, the President of Huawei Technologies for Southern Africa Regional Device, said the new device was powered by a 4000mAh battery and could charge in just 20 minutes for a full day. The new smartphone has a dual camera system made in collaboration with Leica which comprises a 12-megapixel colour RGB sensor that could record 4K video with optical image stabilisation, and 20-megapixel monochrome sensor to help with depth.
He said Huawei has implemented a 4-in-1 hybrid autofocus which combines laser focus, phase detection focus, depth focus and contrast focus, adding that the camera system produces "stunning photography". Mr Feing noted that the unique features of Huawei ‘Mate 9’ won it nine prestigious awards at the CES Innovation Awards 2017, citing its outstanding performance and design, which he believed was the company’s continuous growth in cutting edge innovative technologies globally.
He explained that Huawei has partnered with MTN Ghana for the 4G drive, adding that with the partnership, MTN is supporting Huawei with 2.5 GB data for six months in addition to an opportunity to own a free Huawei B3 talkband which comes with a Bluetooth headset.
Mr Feing said the after-sales service for the Huawei Mate 9 comes with first three months screen damage warranty, first three months handset replacement warranty, free engraving, free pickup and delivery service and a one-year standard warranty.
Mr Asher Khan, the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, said the outfit was delighted to partner Huawei because of its quality features which provided customers with greater level of experience. He said MTN’s quest to deliver a bold new digital world has been demonstrated by their continuous investment in the network, saying the company invested 96 million dollars last year in network expansion and 18 million dollars to roll out 4G LTE across the country.
Mr Khan encouraged the public to purchase the new smartphones to explore and experience the quality features the device offers.
