President John Evans Atta Mills on Thursday threw an invitation to the American business community to take advantage of Ghana's enabling environment and invest in the country to improve the lives of the people.
He said Ghana welcomed friendly nations and business people with the requisite experience to make Ghana a preferred investment destination, assuring them of a level playing field without any undue Government interference.
President Mills gave the invitation at a luncheon in his honour by the Bank of America Merill and Fidelity, after he addressed the 64th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Ghana is looking for investment in areas including energy, oil and gas, agriculture and agribusiness, information and communication technology, tourism, mining and transportation, he said.
President Mills invited American investors to savour the Ghanaian hospitality and partner Government to boost the nation's economic development.
Government for its part would not deviate from its promise to create jobs and to run an open, honest and transparent government.
"This luncheon should be the beginning of our union. We are ready to share Ghana's resources to help improve the lives of our people.
"Your participation will help build a better Ghana and help improve the lot of our people," President Mills said, adding that they would not be disappointed for investing in Ghana.
