The Chief of Esiama, Nana Kofi Amgbo 1V, has appealed to government to expand social and physical infrastructural development in the town in view of rapid population growth.
He mentioned the provision of a water reservoir to serve the town and its environs, as well as the rehabilitation of major roads and bridges in the area.
Nana Amgbo 1V made the appeal when the Deputy Minister of Energy and MP for Ellembelle, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, paid a courtesy call on him at his palace as part of a 10-day working visit to the Western Region.
The MP was accompanied by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, Mr. Daniel Eshun.
Nana Amgbo asked government to establish more factories in the district to help curb the unemployment situation there.
He expressed gratitude to the MP and government for their rapid response to flood victims during the recent heavy downpour, which destroyed a number of properties.
For his part, the MP said he has outlined a development plan, and would hold quarterly meetings with his constituents to learn at first hand their problems and how best to address them.
Mr Buah said a formidable Nzema Union will be formed to forge ahead in unity and resist any form of division which would retard the progress of the area.
The DCE for the area said contractors who had worked on unfinished projects initiated by the previous government had not been paid. The Assembly would, therefore, complete those before embarking on new ones.
