The Kwaebibirem District Assembly has failed to elect a Presiding Member after two rounds of voting.
After two rounds of voting on Thursday Mr Kwaku Ofori Abrokwah and Ms Christiana Bediako failed to secure the two thirds majority votes required to become the PM.
After a long debate on the floor, the house broke for 20 minutes to enable members to hold consultations.
When it resumed Ms Bediako announced her withdrawal from the race but when the assembly members were asked to endorse Mr Bediako by either "Yes" "No" the outcome was split, 38 for and 38 against.
The house adjourned for a new date to be fixed for a re-run with fresh nominations.
During a similar exercise three weeks ago Mr Abrokwah had 33 votes and Ms Bediako 28 with 26 rejected ballots.
In the second round Mr Abrokwah secured 34 and Ms Bediako 19 and rejected ballots numbered 24.
