Polling Agents of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary elections in the Odododiodioo constituency have been honoured for their hard work and dedication, which enabled the party to win the polls.
They were each given a certificate of recognition and appreciation signed by President Evans John Atta Mills and Dr. Kwabena Adjei, National Chairman of the party at a ceremony in Accra.
A citation accompanying the certificates commended the Agents for their distinguished, exemplary and dedicated service towards the growth and sustenance of the NDC in the constituency.
Mr. Jonathan Nii Tackie-Komme, MP for the area expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Agents and Coordinators for their commitment, which contributed towards the success of the elections.
He said the party decided to acknowledge their contribution and to honour them with the certificates to let them know that their dedication had not gone un-noticed and forgotten.
Mr. Tackie-Komme called on members of the party to exercise patience for the transition period to put the country on a proper footing since it was the policy of the NDC to invest in people, jobs and economy.
He said President Mills was also committed to their well-being and that of Ghanaians and urged them to stand solidly behind the government to make the country a better place to live in.
The MP thanked the electorate in the constituency for retaining him for an unprecedented second time in the history of the constituency and for voting for the NDC to form the government and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Mr. Daniel Nii Okai, Constituency Chairman, praised them for their services to the party and expressed the hope that they would always be ready to work for the NDC.
The Constituency Chairman also appealed to them to exercise restrain during the transition for the party to see how they could be helped to secure jobs.
Mr. Okai stressed the need for more unity within the party and support for the leadership of the NDC and the government under President Mills.
Mr. Festus Bekoe, Constituency Vice Chairman, said the honour and recognition should motivate them to ensure that majority of the people joined and took active interest in the activities of the party to enable it to retain power for a long time to come.
He said it was also to reward them for other members to follow their example to contribute their quota for the growth and development of the NDC.
