The Palestinian factions' visit to Egypt scheduled on Thursday was delayed, the Egyptian MENA news agency quoted an Egyptian senior official as saying on Wednesday.
The delay is for more consultations between Egypt and both the Palestinian and Israeli sides towards an acceptable vision on stabilizing the ceasefire, the official said.
The official said that Amos Gilad, head of the Diplomatic- Security Bureau of Israeli Defense Ministry, will arrive in Cairo on Thursday to discuss with Egyptian officials the Palestinian- Israeli conflict.
Egypt invited on Sunday Israel and the Palestinian groups in Gaza Strip to hold separate meetings in Cairo on Jan. 22 for more talks on means of consolidating a ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave.
On Saturday night, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert declared a unilateral ceasefire in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, beginning from 2 a.m. (0000 GMT) Sunday.
And later on Sunday, Hamas and other Gazan militant groups announced that they would stage a one-week ceasefire with Israel, during which Israel must withdraw its troops.
