Commodore Steve Obimpeh (Rtd), former Health and Agriculture Minister under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, called for peace as voting started in Election 2008 and advised Ghanaians to accept the outcome of the election as the will of God.
"Nobody should take cutlasses, arrows, machetes and guns to be chasing anybody and murdering Ghanaians because we must live to fight another day," he said.
Speaking to the GNA at Golden Gate Polling Station in the Ledzokuku Constituency, he said Ghanaians must do all to make the election peaceful.
Prof. John Evans Attah Mills, presidential candidate of the NDC, would be voting at the Golden Gate Polling Station, and Commodore Obimpeh expressed optimism that he would win the presidential vote but the parliamentary race would be tight.
The presiding officer, Mr Jephason Yarboie, said voting started 30 minutes late because of the late arrival of voting materials.
He said there were enough ballot papers for the 854 registered voters.
