Mr David Oscar Yawson, Convention People's Party (CPP) parliamentary candidate for Ahanta West, on Tuesday said politicians are the only people who could restore or create positive image of politics to the younger generation.
He has, therefore, urged politicians to endeavour to stand for the truth always in order to create a good positive image of politics and encouraged younger people to enter into it with the virtues society needed.
Mr Yawson said politics is a noble and respected field of activity and that people needed not to castigate or peddle falsehood or blatant lies about their opponents because the truth would be out one day.
He said these when he was reacting to an allegation that his education was funded partly by Mr Samuel Johnfia, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area. He the seating MP had in no way contributed to his education as was being rumoured around.
Mr Yawson explained that it was rather the Ahantaman Rural Bank in the area that supported his university education when Mr Johnfia was a worker at the bank.
He said for Mr Johnfia to go round claiming that he actually funded his education was entirely untrue.
"It is regrettable to say that Johnfia now goes round to claim fame and glory for what the bank and the district assembly did for me as respectable and socially sensitive corporate bodies," he said.
Mr Yawson urged CPP supporters and sympathisers to be resolute and remain loyal to work for victory in the December 7, 2008 elections.
