President John Agyekum Kufuor on Sunday joined the congregation of the Wa Saint Andrews Catholic Church shortly on arrival to begin a three-day official tour of the Upper West Region.
Addressing the congregation, President Kufuor called on religious leaders and chiefs to offer continuous prayers for God to shower his blessing of peace and fellow feeling on Ghanaians.
He, therefore, called on all politicians to behave properly and all and sundry to exercise their civic responsibilities for the nation to continue to be united and purposeful.
President Kufuor said the Government had been able to manage the rather difficult economic situation it inherited not because it was clever or its own power but through constant prayers and faith.
"It was not only goodness and wisdom but there is more to it than our human endeavour" he said.
Rev. Father Eugene Dery, the Cathedral Administrator, who preached the sermon, called on every Christian to exhibit high level of humility so that God would raise them high.
He appealed to Christians to preach peace and unity before, during and after election 2004.
