Accra Hearts of Oak’s deputy goalkeeper, Solomon Agbesi, has assured the club’s supporters of a spirited performance when they face league leaders Heart of Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, October 13.
With first-choice goalkeeper Benjamin Asare away on international duty with the Black Stars, Agbesi could be handed his first start of the season — a challenge he said he was fully prepared to embrace.
Speaking in an interview last Saturday, the confident shot-stopper promised to give his all to ensure the Phobians maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.
“We are determined to give our fans a reason to smile on Monday,” Agbesi said. “The supporters have been incredible, and we owe them a good performance. Everyone in camp is focused and ready to deliver.”
Hearts have enjoyed a steady start to the new Ghana Premier League season, going four games unbeaten without conceding a goal.
Under the guidance of head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, the team has built a strong defensive foundation, anchored by a disciplined backline and good tactical organisation.
However, their attacking output remains a concern, with only two goals scored in four matches. The Phobians will be hoping to rediscover their scoring touch against a Lions side that has looked dangerous going forward and currently sits second on the table.
The Phobians currently occupy fourth position on the league log and will be keen to close the gap on the leaders with a win today. Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani’s men have shown resilience and tactical discipline in recent weeks, and a positive result against Lions would boost their confidence as they aim to mount a strong title challenge this season.
