Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has called on players of the club to emulate the humility and respectful attitude of team captain, Benjamin Asare.
The goalkeeper, who recently received a car gift from a local businessman in recognition of his outstanding character and discipline, has also earned a call-up to the senior national team, the Black Stars.
Speaking on the development, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe praised Asare for remaining grounded despite his rising profile and noted that his humility has earned him both admiration and rewards.
“If you are good, sincere and respect the club’s leadership and management, such gifts will come your way — and you’ll be surprised,” Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe stated. “It’s not just about talent; character matters just as much.”
He further emphasised the importance of individual conduct and how it reflects on the club as a whole, warning that negative actions from any player could damage the club’s image.
“God willing, Asare could even feature in the next World Cup. That would be a huge opportunity — not just for him but for the club as well.
But if he had done something negative, it would have affected Hearts of Oak too, because this is a big institution.”
He urged other players in the club to take a cue from the skipper’s example, especially his discipline, humility and respect which remains a core value the club expects from its squad.
