Faith Ladies claimed the 2024/25 Women’s FA Cup title in dramatic fashion, edging Jonina Ladies 2-1 in an intense final that was decided in extra time at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, May 18.
The match started cautiously, with both sides testing each other’s defenses. Faith Ladies' Anastasia Bansah picked up an early yellow card in the 8th minute for a reckless tackle. Jonina Ladies made a tactical shift late in the first half, substituting Lordina Osei in for Abigail Bosu in the 41st minute.
Chances were scarce in a tightly contested first half, which ended goalless. The second half followed suit, with both teams struggling to find the finishing touch, and after 90 minutes, the deadlock remained, sending the game into extra time.
Extra time brought a flurry of action. Jonina Ladies took the lead in the 97th minute through Joyce Atimbila, but their advantage was short-lived. Just a minute later, Erica Obeng Apreku responded with a quick equalizer for Faith Ladies.
Apreku struck again in the 112th minute, completing her brace and putting Faith Ladies ahead. Despite late pressure from Jonina Ladies, Faith Ladies held their ground to secure a memorable victory.
With determination and clutch performances, particularly from Apreku, Faith Ladies claimed a well-deserved Women’s FA Cup title.
