Asante Kotoko SC will return to their home ground, Baba Yara Stadium, for the remainder of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, following renovation work on the stadium.
The team was temporarily moved from their traditional venue in September after the National Sports Authority (NSA) closed the stadium for maintenance following Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola on September 5, 2024.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, November 28, the club expressed its excitement about the return to their favourite home ground.
"We are pleased to announce our return to the Baba Yara Stadium for our remaining home matches of the season. This decision was arrived at following an official communication from @Gh_NSA indicating the completion of maintenance work at our historic home venue," it read.
The closure was prompted by the uneven pitch and the facility's failure to meet CAF’s Category 3 standards.
During the stadium's closure, Kotoko adopted the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi as their home ground.
The return to Baba Yara Stadium is a significant boost for the Porcupine Warriors as they prepare for a crucial match against their fierce rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, when the league resumes after the general elections.
So far, Kotoko has played six league games at Len Clay, winning three, losing two, and drawing one.
