Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men's Division 1 champions, Spintex Knights, on Thursday (October 3, 2024) received a timely boost from electronics distributor Electroland Ghana Limited ahead of their participation in the Basketball Africa League qualifiers in Libya.
The support came in the form of a donation of twelve 50-inch NASCO televisions and eight audio systems, which were handed over to members of the team at a ceremony in Accra.
According to the National Sales Manager at Electroland Ghana Limited, Vincent Azan-Gbiok, the items are intended to motivate the basketball players as they prepare to represent Ghana in international competition.
Mr. Azan-Gbiok stated that the donation was a further demonstration of NASCO's commitment to the development of sports in the country, following its long-standing association with football.
"We have a history of supporting sports in this country. We have supported the Black Stars and the league, and now we have decided to sponsor basketball too because everyone is focusing on football.
"There is a lot of talent in basketball, and with more investment, teams such as Spintex Knights can bring pride to the nation. We are hopeful they will qualify for the next stage," he added.
"We decided to motivate the players, so we are giving every player a 50-inch TV, along with eight audio systems."

Spintex Knights are expected to arrive in Libya on October 8 and, starting from October 10, will play games against teams from Benin, Liberia, and Côte d'Ivoire. The competition in Libya is set to conclude on October 15.
A top-two finish will qualify Spintex Knights for the Elite 16, scheduled to be held in Côte d'Ivoire.
