FC Barcelona are poised to bolster their youth academy with the signing of highly-rated Ghanaian teenager David Oduro.
According to reports, the Catalan giants have reached an agreement to bring the 18-year-old left-back from Accra Lions into their ranks.
Oduro, born in 2006, had previously undergone a successful trial at Barcelona earlier this year, and the club has been working diligently to finalize his acquisition. Despite interest from other European clubs, Barcelona managed to secure the young defender's signature.
Oduro has already made a significant impact in Ghana, having become a regular starter for Accra Lions at the age of 17. Over his 50 senior appearances for the club, he has not only demonstrated his defensive capabilities but also contributed offensively with one goal and six assists. His performances have drawn comparisons to Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, known for his speed and versatility.
The move to Barcelona marks a milestone in Oduro's career, as he becomes the first player to join the Blaugrana directly from Ghana. The young talent also had trials at Chelsea earlier this year, but his future now lies in Spain, where he is expected to reinforce Barcelona's youth setup and continue his development.
