SuperSport viewers on DStv and GOtv can look forward to action from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying, with group stage, Matchday 5 fixtures set to be played on Wednesday 14 and Saturday 17 June 2023.

Matchday 5 of the AFCON qualifiers gets underway on Wednesday 14 June, with Guinea hosting Egypt in a key Group D clash – the Syli Nationale and the Pharaohs are co-top of the log on nine points each and both need only one more point to secure a place in next year’s finals.
“Team work was the key to our success in the two matches against Malawi in March [which brought Egypt to the cusp of qualification],” said coach Rui Vitoria. “We will need the same when we come up against Guinea, the main rivals in our group, in June.”
The qualifiers continue on Saturday 17 June, with Angola facing a crunch Group E match against Central African Republic – in which the Palancas Negras need an away win to bring themselves back into contention – while Zambia are looking to join 2024 hosts Ivory Coast in qualification when they face the Elephants in a Group H clash.
“We are close to reaching our goal of qualifying for the AFCON,” said Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant. “Ivory Coast are a high quality team, but we need to focus and ensure that we secure our ticket and don’t have to go to the final match.”
Saturday also features Lesotho hosting Comoros, Botswana will look to salvage some pride in Group J when they host Libya, and South Africa and Morocco – who have both already secured qualification from Group K – will meet in Soweto, with Bafana Bafana looking to avenge a 2-1 loss to the Atlas Lions from the teams’ Matchday 1 clash a year ago.
