Norwich City defender Dimitris Giannoulis will be out for at least eight weeks after being stretchered off in their 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic.
The Greece left-back went over badly on his ankle after he and Wigan's Callum Lang slid in to challenge for the ball.
And Norwich boss Dean Smith confirmed he had suffered ligament damage.
"I'm not sure how serious that is but he's going to see a specialist and I'd probably expect him to be out a couple of months," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.
"The specialist will decide how best to treat them, whether that's to manage it in-house or go the surgical route."
The Canaries signed Giannoulis from PAOK Salonika in May 2021 following an earlier loan spell.
Norwich's next game is at home to Birmingham City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday followed by a Championship trip to Hull City next weekend.
Smith confirmed Brazilian Gabriel Sara would make his first start for the club against the Blues following a brief substitute appearance on Saturday.
