All is set for the exhibition of the Provisional Voters' Register from October 12 to October 17, the Director of Elections of the Electoral Commission (EC) said on Friday.
Mr Albert Kofi Arhin, the director, told the Ghana News Agency that 460 Exhibition Officers had been trained in the handling of persons who would need various forms of error rectification, such as the insertion of omitted names, correction of names spelt wrongly, placement of right pictures to the right names, corrections of titles and replacement of bad pictures.
He said from October 9 to October 11 the 460 Exhibition Officers were expected to pass on their knowledge to 21,004 deputies across the country to enable them to man the 21,004 polling stations, being used as the exhibitions centres.
"As of now we have sent all the necessary materials, including the Provisional Voters' Registers, pens and forms to the various Regional Offices of the Electoral Commission (EC) for distribution to the centres on Tuesday," he said.
"There will be stand by photographers to take pictures of those whose pictures in the register would be deemed bad in our judgement."
Mr Arhin urged all registered voters to visit the exhibition centres, saying that it was important that a registered voter was present before corrections were effected.
He said in some cases, pictures might be changed and the voter needed to be present to take another one.
Mr Arhin noted that some registered voters had been given the wrong titles. "Some females have been given the title Mr and some males have Ms and Mrs attached to their names and we need to correct all these."
He said the EC had been using the media as well as its information vans in the rural communities to urge all registered voters to be present to ensure that the error margin in the new register was reduced to the barest minimum.
"We will continue to need the support of the media to encourage registered voters to visit the exhibitions centres from October 12 to October 17.
