The UEFA Champions League action for the week opens on the evening of Tuesday 13 April with the return leg matches for Porto v Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain v Bayern Munich. SuperSport viewers on DStv can look forward to quarterfinal, second-leg action from the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League on the midweek of Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 April 2021.
The Blues are well in charge of their tie against the Dragons, having won 2-0 in Portugal with goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell. “We are all happy for this result [but] for the second game we need to stay humble. We don't need to think we have the advantage because it will be a mistake. We need to stay calm and focused,” said Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.
The match in Paris is set to be a thriller, with Bayern looking to overturn a 3-2 deficit from a first leg in which Kylian Mbappe ran riot for the French side. "We have to score a lot more. You can always talk about the goals you concede but I think nobody could have had any complaints had we won 5-3 or 6-3. Somehow, we shot ourselves in the foot. Now we have to come from behind,” said Bayern’s Thomas Muller.
The evening of Wednesday 14 April sees the second-leg clashes for Liverpool v Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund v Manchester City. In the former clash, Real took firm control with a 3-1 home win in the first leg, featuring a brace of goals from Vinicius Junior, but an away goal from Mohamed Salah gave the Reds hope of a turnaround.
“It was a good game for us, especially the first half,” said Los Blancos goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. “We controlled them well, scored two goals. The second half they started with higher intensity and got the goal, it was a bit unlucky for me, but we tried to remain calm and we got the third goal. It's a good position for us now but we know Anfield is always a hard place to go."
Man City, meanwhile, will take a 2-1 lead to their away game against Dortmund but cannot afford to take anything for granted: “We’re taking things one step at a time. We wanted to win tonight’s game and now we’ll go to Germany and try and win over there. We're not looking far ahead – always the next game,” said manager Pep Guardiola.
