Mrs. Catherine Morton, Race Director of the 2019 Kiddy Mile Race, has described the event, as successful, following the increase in the number of participants, this year.
According to Mrs. Morton, over 2,000 children aged between five years to 13 years from more than 50 schools took part in the “Mini Olympics”.
She said, the aims and objectives of the programme were achieved, because they managed to inculcate into the children, the desire to compete and win a medal in a competition.
In addition, she said the children showed a lot of interest in the event and were very happy to participate.
She said, plans were in place to shift the programme to Tema, Kumasi and Cape Coast in the near future.
She however pleaded with authorities to give the El-Wak Stadium a facelift, since the current state possess a lot of danger to children.
She disclosed that Kiddy Mile will move to other places like Tema, Kumasi and Cape Coast.
She expressed appreciation to the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Unilever, Blue Band, Dano, BIC and others for supporting the event.
