The Reverend George Heartwell, Mayor of Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States has called on Ghanaians to make the December 7 elections violence-free to enhance the image of the country on the international scene.
Rev. Heartwell gave the advice at a farewell church service organised for him at the Church of the Living God at Kotoku in the Greater Accra Region.
He urged church leaders to intensify their evangelism to champion the course of Christ in order to redeem more souls, especially the youth who are faced with social problems, such as HIV/AIDS, drug abuse and teenage pregnancy.
Rev. Heartwell asked chiefs to let God prevail in whatever they do, avoid chieftaincy and land litigation so that they create enabling environment for outsiders to invest in the area as well as enhance development of the communities.
Rev. Pastor Nee Commodore, Head of the Church of the Living God announced that a one week fasting and prayers have been launched by the church for peace and stability towards the coming presidential and parliamentary elections.
Nii Quarshie Nettey, Acting Chief of Papaase who chaired the function congratulated Reverend Heartwell and called for unity among churches, chief and the people of Ghana for a peaceful elections.
