Out to woo voters for the upcoming Assembly elections in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party has now promised state assistance to Christian devouts for travelling to Bethlehem.
"If the AIADMK alliance comes to power in Tamil Nadu after the polls, the government will help devout Christians travel to Israel, just like Muslims go for the Haj pilgrimage," AIADMK supremo
Jayalalithaa said while addressing an election meeting in Kanyakumari on Saturday.
In a war of freebies, the ruling Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam party and AIADMK have promised a bonanza ranging from mixers, to mineral water and free rice for the April 13 polls.
Not lagging behind the major political parties, independents too have come up with incredible promises with Shahjahan, an independent
contesting from Salem South and North constituencies going to the extent of offering a Nano car each to every voter if he is elected.
Another independent candidate from Musiri, Kannaiyan, has promised free gold coins to all voters if they elect him.
Vincent Paul, another independent from Manapparai, has offered gold chains of five sovereigns to all girls getting married.
