The loser in Niger's presidential election run-off, Seini Oumarou, on Wednesday conceded defeat and congratulated the winner, Mahamadou Issoufou.
"Having examined the provisional results released by the electoral commission, I would like to congratulate His Excellency Issoufou Mahamadou for the victory and wish him good luck as he settles down in his duties to serve Niger," Oumarou said.
He also ruled out filing a case with the Constitutional Council to raise any electoral dispute.
"With the understanding that power is given to someone by God and the sovereign people, I have decided not to raise any electoral disputes and not to ask the Transitional Constitutional Council to cancel the results for whatever reasons," he pointed out.
After making these remarks, Oumarou went to the home of the president-elect to congratulate him.
He said all national and international electoral observer missions deployed to Niger concluded that the country's second round of presidential election was free and fair.
