Mr. Eramaus Baidoo Cudjoe, constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party at Sekondi, on Monday urged all aspiring parliamentary candidates to carry out descent campaigns.
This would ensure that any member of the party who emerges as the parliamentary candidate after the April primaries would gain the support and confidence of all party members in the constituency.
Mr. Cudjoe said this when Mr Andrew Egya Pa Mercer, an aspiring parliamentary candidate, picked up his nomination form at the party regional office in Sekondi.
He said insults and character assassination would not help but rather break the party’s front.
Mr. Mercer said there was the need for change in Sekondi, adding, “Sekondi is a city with immense historical and cultural background that stretches over centuries but in spite of these, the city has for the past many years been declining”.
He said the most critical and fundamental factor for the socio-economic, geographical and psychological decline was the lack of leadership and this had affected businesses and the general well-being of the people.
