The Lambussie/Karni District Chief Executive, Mr. Clement Benin, on Sunday said the best tribute
Ghanaians could pay to the nation’s founding fathers was to remain patriotic and rededicated to the vision and goals that they stood for.
He therefore appealed to Ghanaians to resolve to work hard, cherish peace at all times and avoid acts that have the tendency of
undermining national unity.
“Let us abhor laziness and be focused on national issues to make Ghana a better place for all. Let us also be disciplined and show
commitment to duty to help us attain our corporate objective of nation building”, Mr. Benin advised.
Mr. Benin was addressing school children and voluntary organisations to mark the 54th anniversary celebration of Ghana’s Independence at Lambussie on Sunday.
He said the search for political stability, economic prosperity, and the establishment of welfare and progressive society had been the
prime concern of successive governments.
He however said as a nation and a district, there was the need for people to sit up and take a critical look at the socio-economic conditions and see whether they had added value to the political independence granted them by the founding fathers.
Mr. Benin called on Ghanaians to be guided by the experiences of neighbouring states to strengthen the prevailing peace and unity
through reconciliation, co-operation and peaceful co-existence.
He said government was committed to improving the living conditions of all Ghanaians, especially government workers, and urged them to adopt a positive attitude to work.
He advised school children to take up their studies seriously, their parents and teachers and eschew social vices such as drunkenness, pre-marital sex, and alcoholism among others.
Mr. Benin commended government workers and the business community for contributing in diverse ways towards the development of Ghana.
Madam Lucadia Biekuu, Lambussie/Karni District Director of Education, advised the pupils and students to be obedient and law abiding and avoid all tendencies that were likely to ruin their lives.
She called on parents and teachers to co-operate and ensure the total development of school children.
